It begins for us in Singapore, first impressions are good the humour from the immigration official who laughed at Coline for dating someone so young and that I was balding set the tone that this was a relaxed place.
The city has so much green, nature has penetrated everywhere around the city.. country? Im still not sure, at least all we explored felt like a city.
We arrived out of our taxi to a torrent of rain, warm rain… This is something new to me but it felt great, almost comfortable to be in the rain, not the cold sharp bullets from the UK.
We learned quickly food is the name of the game, the hawker centres a sort of outdoor cafeteria, surrounded by tiny one cook stalls selling astonishingly cheap foods! But despite the price the quality was spectacular! we ate once in more of a restaurant and compared to the street food it was leagues behind. The atmosphere is so easy, laid back and simple.
The rich Singapore was very attractive, the Marina bay sands area with the super hotels almost ready to compete in the ring with the Vegas heavyweights.
Singapore apparently from humble beginnings has grown to be a must see destination on the world itinerary and im glad it was first on ours.
Singapore to me, was great food, beautiful nature and some wonderful people. People who made the leap into this dark unknown a little brighter.
The sushi cat will never forget.
