Nyonya Central

Next up a week in Melaka, I’m still not sure how to spell the name of the place… It’s different everywhere and in the different languages!

This is our first experience of a Malaysian city and it has been a great one, we have dived into the quite small city in comparison to what we faced in Singapore.

We have been staying in a home stay, a Hotel/big home filled with more cats of course and the delightful sounds of roosters reminding you every 15 minutes after 6.15 that today is starting.

The heart of Melaka seems to be the water, the river and sea which is what made this place the ideal trade hub it was for centuries. This river at night is lit up in a chorus of lights making the walks along its banks dreamlike.

Of course being so central and having presences from the Portuguese, Dutch, British, Chinese and Japanese… The food has evolved into something unique.

The night market is where most of these cuisines can be found, either out on show with the venders beckoning you closer, or tucked away behind in the tiny restaurants and cafeterias.

This city is rich with history and now it has made us rich with good feelings.. ready for the JUNGLE!
