George My Friend

After a quick rest stop in KL with a view from the helipad over the skyline.. very cool! we set off for George town. The Unesco world heritage zoned town once colonised by the Brits.

We spent nearly two weeks here, simply because it became a second home. Our accommodation introduced us to some fantastic locals and placed us in the heart of George Town in the vibrant, colourful and loud Little India district.

We stayed in Cocoa Mews, a people friendly and cat very friendly hostel. The stars of the show where the owners and the many friends they had that called this place there second home too, regulars coming back for annual visits, locals stopping in for a chat and even friends who come very day just to spend time with the great people.

Over the two weeks we slowly ticked of the must see sights and a little more, some highlights would be the round the island tour to see the entire of Penang, the most devious stair climb in existence at Penang hill and the many many dottings of street art that is one of the special ingredients which gives George Town, its truly unique flavour.

George Town has become the first place we did not want to leave, but if we didn’t leave now… we might not have ever.
