Blood is thicker than Java.

We begin Indonesia in its capital, Jarkarta. A loud, beehive of a city where the overpopulated nest is the millions of scooters fighting there way through the streets, bleeding on the pavements to squeeze that inch closer to their goal.

We met in Jarkarta Colines Dad, who here on business had some time to spare to see us for a couple of days, being with him was a taste of luxury as we got treated to a dinner of our choice paid for us… oh how the sushi did flow. We explored a little, not really veering away from the main rich centre of the city, security was high here. The western mall complex outfitted with security checks that would rival Heathrow.

We waited in Jarkarta for one other reason to add one more to the party, Emma, Colines younger inseparable sister was coming to spend 3 weeks with us. We picked her up at the airport as we dropped of the father.

It was beautiful for me to see Coline so happy to have her sister with her and it gave me a great excuse to breakaway and take the back seat.

Emma did not want to wait around as we shot off first thing the next morning for the train station. Doughnuts and mango juice ready and enough cookies to survive through winter we boarded our 8 hour ride through the volcanic landscape littered with rice terraces and temples on our way to Yogykarta.
